These are the questions I was asked along with my answers.
What is your happiest memory?
Wow this is a really hard one! There are so many to choose from. This is definitely a good thing though. I’m so lucky to have so many happy memories throughout my 26 years of life (27 isn’t too far off ahhhh!) There is one that does stand out though. Two years ago I went on Holiday with my best friends step family (so his dads wife’s family) that’s for me not you. I have to make it sound obvious so I can it understand myself. The holiday was Cornwall. Cornwall is a lovely coastal town at the South of the UK. It’s got great beaches, amazing Cornish pasties and even better beer. I’ve been there a few times before when I was a lot younger and always had a great time. Ever since I’ve known my friend, he’s always mentioned this holiday that he and his family go on. A family tradition if you will. They hire out a row of bungalows for a week in a little tiny village and venture all over the place. Trips to the beach happen during the day. And BBQ’s and card games take place in the evening. It’s a typical British holiday. My friend always mentioned about going along with them, as I was considered family, and it finally happened in 2014. There was me and my friend, in my small Suzuki Swift, setting off to Cornwall at 4am in the morning. To be honest the drive was a little daunting. It’s about a 5 hour journey give or take. Certainly the longest at the time I would have done. But it was a road trip of epic proportions. I had my best friend, who was also co-pilot, next to me. Music was playing through an iPod and there was an open road out in front of me. It was awesome. We were singing and dancing along most of the way. If it wasn’t that then we were laughing at ridiculous sounding town names. Wish I could remember some because they must have been a dare. I took a wrong turn and nearly got us lost. That was fun. I was doing so well. I blamed the Sat Nav at the time but it was definitely me. It was just a really fun trip. And that’s not even the happiest memory. Well its part of it. I was nervous meeting the entire step family, at the same time! But I just gelled with everyone so quickly. Literally the first day I had people laughing and joking. The kids took a liking to me straightaway, partly because I’m a big kid myself. I love running around, playing tag, pretending to let them beat me up. All while the smell of sweet BBQ food was being cooked all around. It was at that point, right there, where I was definitely the most happiest. I guess being accepted in to someone’s family that quickly really shocked me. But that’s exactly how they all made me feel. I see them all now and I still feel the same. It just goes to show that you don’t need blood to feel part of a family.
Why did you decide to start blogging? And what are the goals you hope to achieve from it?
I started a blog a very long time ago. It was actually part of a creative writing course I was doing at the time. Trouble is I only ever did one post. Bad I know. But I loved it at the time. And I’ve always loved writing in general. Poetry used to be my thing. Again no real reason why. It was just one of them things. Anyway yeah the blog thing at the time was a one off. And I really wished I stuck at it. But I was too busy being busy with friends. I never made time for it. It was always put on the back burner. But the burner never got lit. The itch for it came back though in early 2015. I just done another writing course and it really motivated me to get back in to it. It was a creative outlet to put all my thoughts and ideas out there. Sometimes it’s easier to write your thoughts than it is to explain them to people. So I started up the blog again and made a promise to keep to it. And that’s exactly what I’ve done. I’ll be honest I need to get better with timings. My posts at the moment are all over the place. But some of that does come to general life-ness things which get in the way. But so far, it’s going well. I’ve met some great people and I love being a part of the blogging community. The goals I hope to achieve are simple. Just keep it and don’t stop. I’m not really in to it for money or anything. I just want to make people smile. And if I can keep on doing that then that’s all I can ask for. I guess if a writing opportunity came out of it somewhere down the line then great. I wouldn’t say no! But no I intend to blog for as long as possible.
What are your dreams and ambitions? And what will you do today so that dream is one step closer to reality tomorrow?
I think everyone dreams of winning the lottery, right? That’s definitely one of them! But obviously the chances of that happening are like a million to one. So being more realistic I would like to be doing something I’m very passionate about for a career. It would be a mixture of writing, movies and horror. Now that can be many things. I could be a movie critic, actor, director, script writer, blogger for a company. The possibilities are endless. It’s just really getting on the train to reach them all. I have no idea where to even begin. Googling something like that just sends me down a web of all this information, which all points to further education. Going back to studying again is all well and good if you still live at home and don’t care too much about money. It’s a completely different ball game when you have a rent to pay for and countless other bills. I can’t just give all that up. People say “well you should if it’s your dream” but that’s not realistic. So my other alternative is studying part time and at home. That would be a lot easier but then it’s so damn expensive! I looked online yesterday for courses and some of them are the price of a small car. It’s ridiculous that you have to pay vast sums of money to learn. I could try luck out, start from scratch, teach myself from using the internet. Trouble is that will only get me so far. Near enough all of the jobs I’ve looked at for writing ask for some kind of degree. It sucks when you know you have the relevant experience in what they’re looking for. But yet they don’t want you because you didn’t spend 4 years studying practically nothing. It really winds me up. I know other people feel the same way. It’s a vicious circle of needing experience to get a job and a job to get experience. So I’m going to try and do it the hard way. I’m going to scratch, claw and grab my way in to opportunities. I don’t even care if they’re unpaid. It’s the experience that is the most valuable. So that is what I’m doing today that will help me tomorrow.
That’s enough from me. Thanks again to Nicole again for nominating me and making me aware of this awesome award!
My three questions to my seven nominees are:
- If you had the power to go back to the past, or jump to the future. What would you do, and why?
- Where do you see you and your blog in 5 years’ time?
- What motivates you to write? And what advice would you give to people just starting out
I hope you enjoyed this post and my answers. I really enjoyed the questions. I hope my nominees all take part as I really want to read your answers.
Catch you all next time!
